As from the end of last month, Sky Q subscribers can use voice search to find movies and TV content. The long awaited feature was added with a firmware update that also brings additional personalization features.
Voice Search is activated by the microphone icon on the right hand side of the Q’s Bluetooth remote. Film titles, sports, genres, stars and TV shows titles are in the vocabulary, Sky has also enabled title search via movie quotes – although the accuracy can be a little hit and miss!
Alongside voice search, the My Q section becomes the new Sky Q homepage. This puts personalisation and recommendations centre stage in the user experience. The Continue Watching section allows viewers to pick up where they left off with recorded shows.
There’s also more social integration, with Facebook videos now viewable via the box. You’ll need to use the My Photos App on Sky Q to sign into your Facebook profile to see photos and videos.
The service is also stepping up its UHD content offerings, with the debut of Formula One in 4K.
